So here we are at the end of October! How has your month been? For me October has been a mixed bag. There have been a lot of fun things going on, like some lovely autumnal days out in Edinburgh (see the castle above, and St Cuthbert below), which have been great. Edinburgh does autumn really well!
On the other side of the coin my daughter has finally given up napping in the day and that has required a lot of adjustment on my behalf! That two hour window each day has been my time to sit and write the blog and reply to emails for nearly two years, so needless to say the blog (and emails) have been on a bit of a backburner. I’m sure I’ll find some balance soon, but for now if posting is a bit less than normal, or I’m taking really long to get back to your email, then go easy on me! ;)
I’ve also spent an inordinate amount of time and brainpower on trying to figure out our childcare situation for when my daughter turns 3 in two months – they sure don’t make it easy (or affordable) to be a working parent!
On Moral Fibres
But enough about me: here’s what’s happened on the blog this month!
Kayleigh Innes and Stephannie Hay shared their ethical style this month. I loved the contrast between the two styles – it’s so interesting to see different people’s take on ethical style!
I posted about some ethical women’s clothes for autumn and also some ethical men’s clothes for autumn.
And I put together a handy guide to ethical clothing companies and stores for men. I know it’s not always easy to track down ethical clothing, especially for men, so I thought it would be useful to have all the companies I know of in one place.
I also shared a lot of really useful posts this month: a vegetable planting calendar and guide that I’ve already gone back to several times for allotment planning. A post on 13 unexpected uses for white vinegar. A seriously inspiring video on the case for living simply.
And finally, a really easy tea towel DIY that’s so eye-catching!
Life Happenings
In other news, I spent a lovely time in Largs this month with my daughter. They’re big on vikings there:
This viking statue is made from succulents. I think he’s amazing!
I was also a bit busy on Instagram this month:
From clockwise: our last harvest from our garden / two year olds LOVE collecting conkers (so do I!) / autumn display in a local shop / and finally I checked one of my life goals off by getting to see Billy Connolly live in Edinburgh at the start of the month. Sore sides ahoy!
And that’s us for October! Happy Halloween everyone! Our pumpkins are carved and we’re getting ready for a couple of fun Halloween parties! See you tomorrow with a guide to what’s in season in November!
ps: catch up on September’s roundup here.
