Take a tour around this beautiful Hertfordshire home that oozes secondhand chic.
I love a good virtual snoop around other people’s houses. I stumbled upon this beautiful Victorian terraced house in Hertfordshire, on the House to Home website and fell in love with how the owners have cleverly repurposed old materials and furniture to really stunning and unique effect.
The Secondhand Chic Kitchen
Check out the kitchen cabinets made from reclaimed wood. And who doesn’t want a sign that says Booby Traps?!
For the kitchen, the owners repurposed the original floorboards and fruit crates to make the doors. They also used reclaimed shelving to maximise their storage.
The Living Room
The crate theme continues in the living room. The owners couldn’t find a large sofa that they liked anywhere. Instead, they made the sofa’s wooden base from salvaged fruit crates, and then added their own cushions, for a homemade sofa that just invites you to sit on it.
How cosy does this living room look? I can really imagine myself sitting on that chair on a snowy day, a good book in hand, and a steaming hot cup of tea just within reach. What I especially love is that the mirror frame was made from a door frame found in a salvage yard, for that secondhand chic touch.
The Bathroom
Moving on to the bathroom, and I’m not surprised to see that the carpentry theme continues. Here, the bathroom echoes the rest of the house, with this custom rustic vanity unit. I love the vintage mirror, paired with modern sanitary ware.
