What I Wore (The Sustainable Clothing Edition)

I’ve decided to do a little What I Wore sustainable clothing series for the blog. Mainly because after 9 months of wearing maternity clothes, I’m pretty over the moon to be back in regular clothes!  The sheer joy of being able to open my drawers and wear whatever takes my fancy is pretty something, let me tell you.

What I Wore – The Sustainable Clothing Edition

This first ethical outfit in my What I Wore series is one of my favourites right now:

what I wore

Jessamine Organic Cotton Dress – Thought Clothing* / Pistill Leggings – c/o Gudrun Sjõdén / Boots – eBay*

I absolutely love the fit of this Thought Clothing dress. It’s very flattering on my postpartum figure.  The fabric is nice and heavy and drapes perfectly in all the right places.  It’s now my go-to dress for basically any time I want to feel put together and fantastic about myself.

The leggings are from Gudrun Sjõdén, This is a brand with which I’m not overly familiar with but have strong ethical policies in place. They also have their own eco labelling system. This means you can see how different Gudrun Sjõdén products compare to one another.  These raspberry red leggings are a great way to brighten up an outfit and are rated two out of three in Gudrun Sjõdén’s system. This means they are made with more than two-thirds organic cotton or recycled fibres.  I will be back for more bright leggings!

Finally, my boots are a secondhand eBay find from a few years ago.  I’ve not had much luck with eBay lately – buying or selling – so I’m hoping it’s a temporary blip.  Me and eBay go back at least 13 years – at one point I’d say my wardrobe was 75% secondhand from eBay. Therefore, I’d be sad to see our relationship sour!  I’m on the hunt for a new pair of boots a bit like this as these are on their way out.  I’ve worn them pretty much every day over autumn and winter over daily round trip to nursery and back, and sadly they have a rubber sole that isn’t very easily replaced.  Poor shopping on my part.

Look out for the next What I Wore very soon!

Ethical Outfit of the Day – Thought Clothing

frosty leaf

Let me show you my ethical outfit of the day, featuring Thought Clothing

It’s been a tale of woe around here! I was ill for the most part of November and December with a really persistent chest infection. Very ill. The I can’t get out of bed, can’t even watch TV kind of ill. I, therefore, hadn’t managed to make any trips to our allotment in months.

Thankfully my partner and our friends that we co-own the allotment with have put in some hours and hard work. I’ve started to feel a little better, so it was really pleasant to take a stroll to our allotment on Sunday to get some fresh air and to see what’s changed there.

My Thought Clothing Ethical Outfit of the Day

While we were there the mid-winter light was so lovely. So much so that I cast off my coat and scarf for all of 30 seconds and we took some very quick photos of my new dress that Thought Clothing* kindly sent me to review.  Then I bundled back up again and went home to warm up over a steaming hot cup of hot chocolate!  No more lurgy for me, thanks very much!

I’m wearing the Kenzie Dress, which is beautifully soft and easy to wear.  It’s pretty much the style of dress which I love, from the shape to the cut, to the pattern. As such, I know I’ll be wearing this dress for years and years to come.  Since I got it, I’ve barely taken it off – I even wore it on Christmas Day!  All of Thought Clothing’s clothes are ethically produced and are one of the few ethical retailers to cater to both men and women.

If you’re in the market for some new ethical clothing then you might be interested to know that the Thought Clothing January sale has just started today, and the Kenzie dress is now 50% off – a snip at just £24.90!  Just saying…!

My boots came from eBay. I mentioned them in this early really early Moral Fibres post. I’d already had them a year at that point so they’re holding up really well!  My necklace came from Monsoon about 7 years ago.  What can I say, I like my clothes, shoes, and accessories to last!

Wondering about that willow fence?  Our neighbouring allotment holder grows and coppices his own willow, and weaved it all by hand.  It’s so beautiful!

allotment

We’re still in the clearing and planning stage of our allotment. This is one of our neighbour’s allotments.  We’ll get to that stage soon: I’m really looking forward to sharing our progress with you all!

Disclosure: Thought Clothing sent me a dress to review, but all words and opinions are my own.
