A Unique Farmhouse House Tour

I can’t remember the last time I wrote about our home renovation progress.  In a nutshell, things have ground to a halt.  Well over a year ago we got an architect in to draw up some plans, hoping work would be finished at the end of last year.  Fast forward a year and a bit later, and no work has started, and we have reached a bit of a stalemate with Building Control at our local council.  It has got to the point where our architect and structural engineer now refer to our loft as “that bloody attic” in any conversation with us.

At some point I will share a photo of our bedroom in it’s present state – it has a hole in the wall and everything that we don’t want to fix until we get word from Building Control exactly what work needs to be done on our house.  So looking at other people’s lovely houses gives me some hope that one day our house will be lovely too, and not varying shades of orange and brown and with holes in the walls!

One house that I’ve been looking at lately is that of Rachelle Blondel, who lives in a 1729 farmhouse in North Yorkshire.  It’s such a lived in family home, in the best possible way, that looks so relaxed and homely and full of character.  Look out for her cheeky little Jack Russell who is definitely not camera shy!

Rachel also keeps chickens and pigs, and if you’re looking for further proof that she’s really living the dream – Rachelle has a old static caravan that she has restored into a girly paradise.

A lot of Rachelle’s furniture came from Gumtree and Freecycle.  To see more of Rachelle’s beautiful house, and read further details, visit Apartment Therapy.

And keep your fingers crossed for us that we can reach an agreement with Building Control soon!
