Looking for eco-friendly and sustainable beach bags in the UK? Here are my top UK recommendations for 2026 – including vegan-friendly, plastic-free, recycled, and responsibly made beach bags.
The most sustainable beach bag is a bag that you already own or one that you find secondhand. But if you can’t find what you are looking for pre-loved, then there are other ethical options available.
If you’re in the market for a new eco-friendly bag to carry your beach essentials, then you are in luck. Once a niche market, the good news is that there are now heaps of choices. But with so many choices, it can be daunting to know where to start.
When it comes to beach bags, I look for durable ones made from sustainable and eco-friendly materials. I give bonus points if they are made from recycled materials. And I look for roomy bags that will hold all of your beach essentials. After all, a good beach bag needs to handle sandy towels, damp swimwear, and the odd sunscreen spill, while still looking good enough to take from the beach to a cafรฉ.
It’s a lot to ask for! Thankfully, I’ve found some good ones!
The UK Sustainable Beach Bags Brands To Know
Here is my pick of ethical beach bags, which, in addition to being practical, also do good and look good. From tote bags to baskets, you’ll want to carry any one of these bags around all summer long – and for lots of summers to come.
Dock & Bay

This vegan-friendly beach bag from Dock & Bay (ยฃ14.99 at Ethical Superstore) is made completely from 100% recycled materials. It’s also large enough for packing all of your beach essentials without looking like you’ve packed everything but the kitchen sink. There’s also a handy internal pocket to keep essentials like sunscreen close to hand.
It’s stylish too, so you can guarantee you’ll be reaching for this bag all summer long. When summer has passed, don’t leave it languishing in your wardrobe. Instead, use it as a reusable shopping bag – it folds up small so you can keep it stashed in your pocket or handbag.
Seasalt

This pretty vegan-friendly beach bag from Seasalt (ยฃ35.95) is another great sustainable choice. The outer (including the handle) is made from 100% jute – a completely natural, plastic-free fibre. Meanwhile, it’s lined with 100% organic cotton, meaning it’s been grown without pesticides.
Jute is considered sustainable because it’s renewable – taking just 120 days to grow from seed to full maturity – and compostable. It’s an incredibly hardy plant – needing only rainwater, rather than energy-intensive irrigation systems. What’s more, as growing jute contributes to good soil health, jute is mostly grown in rotation with other crops, mostly rice. This means that jute cultivation does not displace land from food production.
Itโs also a great choice if youโre trying to avoid synthetic fibres altogether and keep things fully plastic-free.
The bag features a handy pocket to keep valuables safe, and it is versatile enough to be used everyday.
Piglet
If you are looking for a zero-waste beach bag, then this stylish recycled tote bag from Piglet (ยฃ12) is one to consider.
It’s made in Portugal, from offcuts of fabric leftover from Piglet’s bedding production – giving perfectly good material a second life instead of letting it go to waste. This keeps surplus textiles in use for longer.
Fabric-wise, it’s made from linen and cotton, making it vegan-friendly too. Linen is particularly hardwearing, meaning this is the kind of bag that will age well rather than wear out quickly.
Rapanui
Finally, this 100% organic cotton tote bag from Rapanui (ยฃ20) is also another solid ethical choice. And for a fun touch, it even depicts a person swimming.
This Isle of Wight-based brand is all about sustainability and circularity. The material for the bag is made in a renewable energy-powered factory, audited for a wide range of social and sustainability criteria. And then once it’s worn out, you can scan the QR code in the care label to send it back to Rapanui. Here, it will be remade in new cotton garments.
This closed-loop approach helps reduce textile waste and keeps materials in use for longer.
