If you’re looking to get crafting this Easter, then there’s no need to go and buy a load of supplies from the craft shop. Instead, I invite you to have a good rummage through the contents of your recycling bin.

One incredibly common item lurking in your cardboard and paper recycling may be the humble toilet paper roll or kitchen paper roll. These cardboard tubes are crafting gold – you can make so many things from them. And this holds true at Easter time too. There are heaps of sustainable Easter crafts you can make from toilet paper rolls – the only limit is your imagination.

Two Lovely Bunnies

Happy Toddler Playtime has a great DIY guide to make these adorable bunnies. All you need are some clever scissor skills and some paint to make them. And if you’d rather not use cotton wool, or don’t have any to hand, a crumpled-up ball of paper would also do the job.


Egg Holders

These cute egg holders by Supermakeit are made entirely from toilet paper rolls. It would be a fun way to gift a chocolate egg to someone or to decorate your home. These are definitely on my to-craft list this year!


Recycled Easter Baubles

If you’re looking for an easy craft idea for kids, try these recycled Easter baubles by Ohoh Deco. These come together in minutes. All you need are some toilet paper rolls, some twine, scissors and glue, and you are all sorted.

You can then hang the finished bunnies from some branches held in a vase to make a seasonal table centrepiece. Alternatively, you can tie them to a long piece of string to make a fun garland.


The Spring Chicken

Look Weโ€™re Learning has a fun tutorial to make this spring chicken from a toilet paper roll. If you’d like to avoid the plastic googly eyes, you can draw or paint the eyes on, or use recycled paper or card for a more zero-waste approach to crafting.

It’s a fun toddler-friendly craft, that you can use to decorate cards and wrapping paper or make pretty pictures with.

Of course, Easter isn’t just about rabbits and chicks. When I think of Easter, I think of bright spring blooms, such as tulips. If you do too, then One Little Project is here to help. Again, you could use a mix of toilet paper rolls and kitchen paper rolls to get a mix of sizes.
